We talk to Absolutely Cheshire about how the Charlotte Findlater Team lead the way in regenerative architecture and luxury interior design that honours time, nature, and people. For a barn high above Lake Coniston in the Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site, we drew inspiration from the symbolism of a squirrel’s drey, representing safety, refuge, and sanctuary. Using natural, sustainable materials, we created a home that reflects its enchanting woodland setting, while prioritising human health and wellbeing at every stage of the design.
Through biophilic design principles, the interiors embrace natural light, stone, wood, and sensory layers that foster a deep connection with nature. These timeless, authentic spaces reduce stress, enhance creativity, and celebrate the individuality of their owner. Rooted in the ethos of sustainable and regenerative interiors, this project embodies John Ruskin’s belief that “when we build, let us think we build forever.” Extending regeneration beyond the house, the rewilded garden now features fruit trees, vegetable beds, and inviting spaces to eat, play, and connect, ensuring a lasting legacy of harmony and ecological balance.
